Alan McManus: Delighted to be back at the Crucible
Alan McManus admits it means a lot to have qualified for this year's World Championship in Sheffield.
The Scotsman made it to the semi-finals in 1992 and 1993 but has not made it to the Crucible in the six years running up to this tournament.
McManus, now 42, is back in action this time though and will face Ding Junhui in the first round on Tuesday.
"When I went out of the top 16 and wasn't playing at Sheffield every year, I said I wouldn't go back there until I was going to play," said McManus.
"I've not been in the Crucible since playing there.
"It's a big thing to be back. In terms of ranking points and money it's not that big, (but) it's the thrill of being back on the big stage."
McManus has been inspired by Steve Davis, who reached the last-eight of the tournament three years ago at the age of 52.
"I don't take things to heart too much and try to keep things on an even keel," added McManus.
"Probably a bit like Steve Davis, I try to keep my head above water in this game. It's tough out there for everyone."
