John Higgins: through to the last 32 in Blackpool
Judd Trump's participation in the Partypoker.com Snooker Shoot-Out in Blackpool lasted just 10 minutes before he was beaten 62-16 by John Higgins.
The Scot triumphed again in a repeat - if on a very different level - of their final at the Crucible final last May.
The Scot opened an early lead with a break of 33 and then played a cagey game, being booed by the crowd at one stage for playing safe, before moving further clear of the 22-year-old Bristolian, who won the UK Championship last month.
Higgins, 36, booked his place in the last 32 of the event - featuring a one-frame, 10-minute maximum format - and will play his next match on Saturday evening.
The Scot told Sky Sports: "It's a lottery. If you get through the first few rounds you can look forward to maybe doing something."
Trump added: "I didn't play a lot of shots so it was hard. Tonight was just a bit of fun really."
World number one Mark Selby joined Higgins in the second round after crushing Joe Perry 104-1.
Pressure
With a 20-second shot-clock in force, Selby said: "I'm not really rushing shots but you're under a lot more pressure because you know if you miss once and give them a chance it could be all over."
Defending champion Nigel Bond bowed out in the first match of the three-day tournament, last year's surprise winner losing 30-15 to Robert Milkins.
Northern Ireland's Mark Allen beat Rory McLeod 46-19, while there were also wins for Martin Gould, Matthew Stevens, Ken Doherty, Graeme Dott and Mark Williams, who thrashed Steve Davis 72-0.
The winner on Sunday takes home £32,000.
