Ronnie O'Sullivan shrugged off concerns over his injured ankle to seal a 6-3 win over Peter Lines and reach the third round at the UK Championship in York.
'The Rocket' injured his ankle while running before the tournament, and said after his 6-2 first-round win over Daniel Wells that the discomfort could force him to withdraw.
But O'Sullivan was in firm control against the world No 61, although Lines did fight back from 5-1 down to push his opponent in the later stages.
Earlier, Australia's Neil Robertson needed a final-frame decider before shaking off the challenge of Kyren Wilson with a 6-5 win.
Wilson, the world No 63, had led 5-4 after a superb clearance of 87 but missed the chance to win the match as Robertson, the defending champion, held his nerve to win the final frame with a break of 87.
Robertson took a cricket bat into the Barbican in order to pay his tribute to compatriot Phillip Hughes, who died on Thursday after being hit by a cricket ball.
"I noticed a lot of other Australian sportsmen doing it over the weekend. It was nice to be able to pay tribute," said Robertson.
"It was a really good opportunity for me to do that and show my respect to him and his family.
"I could see the bat every time I was walking back to my chair and I was just trying to motivate myself. It certainly did help, especially in the last two frames because I really dug in."
Robertson will face Peter Ebdon in the third round match after the former world champion beat Norway's Kurt Maflin 6-1.
Northern Ireland's Mark Allen cruised through with a 6-0 thrashing of Luca Brecel, while Ken Doherty also went through after coming back from 3-0 down to beat Michael White 6-4.
