Cook: overlooked for a third time for London 2012

Aaron Cook's coach Patrice Remarck insists the ongoing saga surrounding the European taekwondo champion must be sorted.

"Based on results, based on experience, Aaron is by far the number one. I think what is going on needs to be looked at."
Patrice Remarck Quotes of the week

Cook was omitted for the third time by Great Britain Taekwondo after losing out to Lutalo Muhammad when the original squad was selected last month.

And after GBT reached the same conclusion, despite the BOA asking them to rethink their decision, Remarck slammed the selection process that has repeatedly overlooked Cook for the sole under-80kg berth.

Remarck told Sky Sports: "The objective for me is experience and results so if you look at the experience of Aaron Cook he has fought 10 out of 15 people who are going to the Olympics in the same weight class.

"The last opponent he beat was the world champion. He's beat all the top players.

"Based on results, based on experience, Aaron is by far the number one. I think what is going on needs to be looked at.

"It is a travesty. It is an outrage. It's disheartening to see what is happening and it is going to put some cloud on taekwondo.

"Something needs to be done to have clarity. They need to fix what is going on."

The BOA's qualification standards panel will consult with the WTF and the BOA board of directors on Friday before making its final decision.
