Fergus McFadden was Ireland's try-scoring hero in Toronto
Fergus McFadden netted a hat-trick of tries as Ireland ended their North America tour on a high, with a comfortable 40-14 victory over Canada.
The visitors ran in six tries in all, with Darren Cave, Tommy O'Donnell and Andrew Trimble also touching down in Toronto.
After a tight first 50 minutes, the tourists ran away with the contest adding 28 points without reply during the remainder of the match.
The Irish touched down twice during the first half, with James Downey and Felix Jones combining for Trimble to mark his 50th cap with a 12th international try.
Ian Madigan assisted McFadden who also went over before the break while James Pritchard kicked three penalties for the hosts.
The home pack helped Tyler Ardron push over for Canada's only try early in the second half, as Ireland fell 14-12 behind.
However, that was as good as it got for the Canadians, with Ireland running in four more tries.
With 55 minutes played, Ireland regained the lead as Kevin McLaughlin fed Cave who raced between the posts.
Dan Tuohy and Devon Toner helped McFadden grab a second, while O'Donnell collected his first international five points thanks to Paul Marshall and McFadden completed his hat-trick with the final play of the game in front of over 20 thousand noisy spectators.
