Super Rugby: ACT Brumbies dismantle The Sharks in Durban
Last Updated: 16/03/13 8:21pm
ACT Brumbies made it a record seventh win in a row on the road as they dismantled last year's runners-up The Sharks with a 29-10 triumph at Kings Park.
The side from Australia blitzed their opponents with a superb first-half performance scoring an impressive 26 points after 34 minutes as they produced their first win in Durban for six years.
Jesse Mogg, Joe Tomane, Matt Toomua and Henry Speight all crossed the stripe with Christian Lealiifano adding three conversions and two penalties to hand them the record for the most consecutive away wins in Super Rugby history.
The Sharks responded in the second period thanks to their first try in three outings coming from Ryan Kankowski.
Patrick Lambie added the conversion to his earlier penalty, but the Brumbies, who had dominated and intimidated the subdued Sharks, had already taken their foot of the pedal by then.
Lealiifano added a further three points from the boot to make sure of a convincing bonus point victory.
Brumbies skipper and flank Ben Mowen said: "It was an absolute bonus to win this game with a bonus point. We knew what to expect from the Sharks and our preparations centred on getting off to a good start."
