Casey Laulala: Makes his first start for Munster
Off-season signings James Downey and Casey Laulala will start in the Munster midfield for Saturday PRO12 opener against Edinburgh.
The duo are joined in the starting line-up by fellow newcomer Sean Dougall plus international Donncha O'Callaghan for the clash at Murrayfield.
The only uncapped player in the squad, led for the first time competitively by Doug Howlett in his new role as captain, is forward Barry O'Mahony.
Downey and Laulala form the midfield pairing and after an impressive debut season in which he scored four tries, while Luke O'Dea is named on the left.
In the front row Damien Varley is propped by the South African pair Wian du Preez and BJ Botha.
O'Callaghan is partnered by the hard working Billy Holland and Dougall is joined in the back-row by youth and experience in the shape of Paddy Butler while the dependable James Coughlan starts at number eight.
But new coach Rob Penney knows there will be no easy start to the season for his side against Michael Bradley's men in the Scottish capital.
Bradley will not name his side until Friday but can welcome back a number of his internationals who were involved in the triumphant three Test Australasia tour.
Skipper Greig Laidlaw, Tim Visser, Nick De Luca, Ross Ford and Ross Rennie are all available for selection, while David Denton has returned to full training after the ankle injury that ruled him out of the summer tour.
