Brian O'Driscoll's ommission from the final test squad to face Australia signals the end of a lengthy Lions career for the Ireland centre.
He was widely expected to play a leading role in the decisive third Test against Australia, so it came as a huge shock when Brian O'Driscoll was omitted from not only the starting XV, but matchday squad by Lions coach Warren Gatland.
O'Driscoll is a veteran of four Lions tours and, having seen his first three end in the disappointment of series defeat, was hoping to put the record straight down under this time around.
While that dream could still come true if the Lions prevail in Sydney this weekend, O'Driscoll's time in the red shirt is now at an end - and not the one he would have been hoping for.
Here we look back at the 34-year's Lions career, starting way back in 2001 when he announed himself on the world stage with a quite stunning individual try against, fittingly, Australia.
