London Welsh have signed Cornish Pirates hooker Rob Elloway on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 31-year-old will strengthen the Exiles' resources at hooker after injuries to Nathan Vella, Matthew Dobson and Nathan Taylor left Welsh with just two fit hookers for the rest of the campaign in Koree Britton and Nathan Morris.

Elloway has made 191 appearances for the Pirates since joining them from Gloucester in the summer of 2007 and helped the club reach consecutive Championship finals in 2010/11 and 2011/12, and overcome Munster in the inaugural British & Irish Cup final in 2010.

London Welsh head coach Justin Burnell said: "We're pleased to have Rob on board. He's been a very prominent figure in the Championship and illustrated that on the weekend by scoring two tries in a man-of-the-match winning performance against Bristol.

"The arrival of Rob highlights our continued drive to recruit as well as how competitive and demanding the Aviva Premiership is, with three of our five front line hookers injured for the rest of the season.”
