Four wins recorded on the opening day in the Netherlands

England Woman made an impressive start to the opening leg of the European Sevens Series as they racked up four wins on day one in the Netherlands. England conceded just 12 points as they out themselves in a strong position ahead of the second day of action. England beat Sweden (41-0), Russia (24-12), Italy (27-0) and France (14-0) to top the pool, with just Switzerland left to play on Sunday before the knockout stages. Head coach Barry Maddocks said: "This has been a good day. We have been tested with two very tough games against Russia and France. Against Russia we were behind going into the second-half, but came back well. "Against France, they actually dominated possession and territory for much of the game but we were very clinical and took our chances when we could, and that saw two breakaway tries for Heather Fisher and Emily Scarratt. "We now know the job we have to do tomorrow, which is to defeat Switzerland and book our place in the semi-finals. And then our goal is to finish top, to put us in the best possible position for the Rugby World Cup qualifier in Moscow."
