Clermont have lost their second key player in as many days following France international full-back Jean-Marcellin Buttin’s decision to sign for rivals Bordeaux-Begles.

Bordeaux president Laurent Marti confirmed his club had secured the 23-year-old, who has been capped twice by his country, from next season.

Buttin, who has been at Clermont since 2009, has signed a two-year contract with Bordeaux.

His decision to leave comes a day after wing Napolioni Nalaga agreed to join defending French champions Toulon next term.

Buttin is the fourth recent signing by Bordeaux, who are coached by former France captain and hooker Rapahel Ibanez.

New Zealand back-row forward Luke Braid, La Rochelle No 8 Loann Goujon, and experienced Australian back Adam Ashley-Cooper will all play for Bordeaux next season.
