Sunday's Greene King IPA Championship clash between Cornish Pirates and London Welsh has been postponed following a pitch inspection on Saturday morning.

The game had been in doubt due to the extreme weather conditions in the south-west of England, with one of the stands at Mennaye Field suffering storm damage earlier this week.

The Pirates held a pitch inspection at 8.20am on Saturday and following further heavy rainfall the previous night, they were forced to postpone their fixture with the Championship leaders.

A club statement read: "Following a pitch inspection held at the Mennaye Field, Penzance on Saturday morning, this game has been postponed.

"A rearranged date for the fixture to take place will be made known when confirmed by the Organising Committee.

"Tickets purchased for the match will be valid for the rescheduled date."
