Nottingham have handed former Leeds Carnegie lock Joe Quinn a 12-month contract after he impressed on trial.
Quinn has spent the past two seasons playing for Otley and then Wharfedale after hamstring and shoulder injuries ended his spell at Leeds.
However the 21-year-old has earned a professional deal with Nottingham following eye-catching displays in the pre-season games against London Irish and Leicester.
"After leaving Leeds I concentrated on my university studies and rugby maybe wasn't as important to me for a while," said Quinn, who is now set to face Leeds in the opening fixture of the new season.
"I had two years out of full-time rugby, and coming back into the mix here at Nottingham, with a great bunch of lads, has been a big leap forward.
"I've spent pre-season here, done all the hard work with the team and know that I'm ready to take my place on the pitch."
