Top Italian club Treviso have secured the signature of former Wasps fly-half Joe Carlisle.

Carlisle, who has also played for Worcester, was recently released at Adams Park after spending one year with the Premiership club.

The Swindon-born 26-year-old will be joined at Treviso next season by Rupert Harden who heads to Italy from Gloucester.

Tight head prop Harden, 29, who has previously been capped by England Saxons, made 93 appearances for Gloucester during his five years at the club.

Treviso finished 11th in the Pro12 table in 2013/14 but will compete in next season’s inaugural European Rugby Champions Cup.

They have been drawn in pool five alongside Northampton Saints, Racing Metro and Ospreys.

Treviso have already signed Kiwi trio Mathew Luamanu, Leo Auva'a and Sam Christie.
