Former Australia international Matt Giteau has signed a two-year extension to his contract at Toulon.

Giteau, who had stints at the Brumbies and the Force before moving to France in 2011, has been in superb form this season, with the centre scoring four tries in nine appearances.

A number of Toulon's Top 14 rivals had been monitoring Giteau's progress - with Montpellier, in particular, keen on the playmaker.

However Giteau wrote on Twitter: "Signed for another 2 yrs in Toulon! Enjoying the challenges of Top 14 & Heineken Cup... Oh & French language!!"
