World Cup-winning back Francois Steyn is to return to South Africa after signing a three-year deal with the Sharks.

The 25-year-old, who lifted the Webb Ellis trophy with the Springboks in 2007, came through the ranks at the Sharks before leaving them to join Racing Metro three years ago.

However Steyn, who can slot in at full-back and centre and has built up a reputation with his monster kicking, will re-join the Natal-based franchise from the Top 14 outfit.

Sharks coach John Plumtree told the club's official site: "It is great to have him back with us as we did miss him.

"He was definitely an influential player when he left and he will again be that, so it's fantastic to have him with The Sharks."
