Former Australia captain Rocky Elsom is on the brink of joining Toulon.
Elsom, 30, is undergoing a medical in southern France and it is understood he will initially sign a short-term deal, with a view to a longer contract.
"If the medical is successful, then the player will sign with Toulon,'' said a club statement.
Toulon have been looking for an experienced back-row man since losing Stephane Munoz to a head injury in January.
Elsom, who played 75 times for the Wallabies, has most recently been playing for Kobelco Steelers in Japan and New South Wales Waratahs.
He won the Heineken Cup with Leinster in 2009, and he was man of the match against Leicester in the final. If he signs he would be available for Toulon's quarter-final against Leicester in April.
