Jonny Wilkinson is among five nominees shortlisted for the ERC European Player of the Year 2013.
The former England international has helped Toulon to Saturday's final of the Heineken Cup where they face Clermont Auvergne, who provide three other contenders for the award - Julien Bonnaire, Wesley Fofana and Sitiveni Sivivatu.
The shortlist for the prestigious accolade is made up by Jamie Heaslip, who has been a key figure in Leinster's run to Friday's Amlin Challenge Cup final, where they face Stade Francais.
The 33-year-old Wilkinson, who famously kicked the winning drop goal against Australia in the 2003 World Cup, has been instrumental for the Top 14 club in Europe this season, including kicking all 24 points in their semi-final success against Saracens at Twickenham.
The winner, who will be announced shortly after the conclusion of this weekend's Dublin 2013 finals, will follow Leinster's Rob Kearney and Sean O'Brien, who received the award in the last two years.
Munster's Ronan O'Gara was the inaugural recipient of the honour as the leading player over the first 15 years of both tournaments.
