South African brothers Jannie and Bismark du Plessis have joined Top 14 side Montpellier.

The pair are to leave Super 15 outfit Sharks and join the exodus towards France, signing three-year contracts.

Prop Jannie, 32, and hooker Bismark, 31, will team up with coach Jake White, who previously led the brothers and South Africa to the 2007 World Cup.

"They're really experienced and it's fantastic for them to come here and share that with the Montpellier players," White told the club's website.

Nine players from the southern hemisphere are due to arrive at the club next season including Australia scrum-half Nic White, 24, and South African fly-half Demetri Catrakilis, 25.

White arrived at Montpellier in December and the club missed out on the play-offs for the first time in five seasons.

The 52-year-old will have compatriot Shaun Sowerby (forwards) and Australian Scott Wisemantel (backs) as his assistants next season.
