The multi-purpose Hunter Stadium was officially opened in 1970 by Queen Elizabeth II.
The stadium - also known as the Newcastle International Sports Centre - underwent a constant spell of redevelopment between 2003 and 2011, with the completion of the Western Grandstand increasing the capacity to 33,000.
The next stage of the changes for the ground will see the construction of seating areas in the northern and southern areas.
The stadium is the home of the Newcastle Knights rugby league and the Newcastle Jets football teams.
The Wallabies played there in 2012 when Scotland registered a shock 9-6 victory, while Australia and New Zealand played a one-off Test there the previous year.
Fixture: v Combined NSW-Queensland Country, June 11 (10.30am kick-off)
