Cian Healy's disciplinary hearing to answer a charge of 'biting' an opponent has been delayed until Friday.

The British and Irish Lions prop was cited for an alleged bite on Brett Sheehan during Wednesday's 69-17 victory over Western Force in Perth.

The hearing was originally scheduled to take place in Brisbane on Thursday but that has been put back until Friday morning local time.

Healy absence will be felt

Sheehan complained to the referee that he had been bitten by Healy during the first half and the match was stopped for several minutes while the television match official looked for foul play.

Video replays were inconclusive and Healy was later taken off the field by stretcher with suspected ankle ligament damage after his left leg was twisted in a tackle.

Alex Corbisiero, currently in Argentina with England, has been summoned by the Lions management to join the playing party as cover.

Lions coach Gatland confirmed Healy would have scans on Friday afternoon to determine the extent of the ankle ligament damage.

"He's hobbling around a bit at the moment," said Gatland. "The prognosis doesn't look brilliant.

"Until we get the scans and 100 per cent confirm them; he hasn't been ruled out officially at this stage.

"We made the call early to get Alex over as quickly as possible, just in case."

The Lions face the Queensland Reds in Brisbane on Saturday.
