Dan Lydiate is determined to make the most of his chance after he was named in the British and Irish Lions line-up for the clash against the Barbarians.
Lydiate will join fellow Wales internationals Justin Tipuric and Toby Faletau in the back-row tour opener in Hong Kong.
And with head coach Warren Gatland set to give all 37 members of his squad a chance to impress in the first three games, Lydiate wants to throw down an early marker.
"There is a lot to take in but I am just really looking forward to hitting the ground running," Lydiate told Sky Sports.
"The boys have all got together so it feels like we are actually kicking off the tour now, especially with the first week of a game.
"The first two weeks were purely training in Wales and Ireland but we've now got that carrot dangling of wearing the jersey at the end of the week all the boys are picking it up each day so it is really exciting.
"Gats has said everyone will be given their chance to prove themselves but we are the lucky 23 who have been given their chance on Saturday so you are just hoping that you can put your hand up and play well as a team and as an individual."
