George North thinks the British & Irish Lions have made the right decision in picking his fellow Welshman Sam Warbuton as captain for this summer's tour of Australia.
Scarlets wing North, among a 15-strong Welsh contingent in Warren Gatland's squad, expects Cardiff flanker Warburton to lead by example.
"Sam is a good friend of mine and I've worked closely with him for many years," North told Sky Sports News.
"To see someone work so hard to develop his own game pushes everyone's standards up. He is always leading from the front.
"As a young player, looking at someone like that drives you forward and I'm chuffed to bits for Sam to get that honour.
"He'll bring physicality and leads from the front, driving the team forwards. His own game inspires the rest of us."
North is one of four wingers in the squad and is expecting Test selection to be fiercely contested.
"I was more nervous this morning but now I know what is going on I'm a bit more relaxed and am looking forward to it," he said.
"It's been a long season but now I am looking forward to a summer tour away and getting a few wins.
"Everyone has their own ideas about the make up of the team. All I can do is train hard, work hard and hopefully be in that selection when it comes around."
