Injury-hit Cardiff Blues have signed Samoa centre Isaia Tuifua from Taranaki on a short-term contract.
The 26-year-old links up with the Pro12 club later this week and will help offset the loss of inside backs such as Rhys Patchell.
Cardiff director of rugby Phil Davies said: "Isaia is a very strong ball carrier and defender who will add to our squad.
"We have brought him in initially until the end of the season to look at him and provide us with cover with the injuries we have to the backline.
"We feel Isaia's style of play will complement the likes of Dafydd Hewitt, Gavin Evans and Richard Smith and give us another option.
"It gives us depth in midfield as other players come back from injury."
Tuifua made his Samoa debut in the defeat to Ireland last November and also featured in the 16-15 loss in Georgia. He made 33 appearances for Taranaki.
