Guinness PRO12: Newport Gwent Dragons host Glasgow Warriors, watch live on Sky Sports

Glasgow Warriors aim to maintain their unbeaten start to the Guinness PRO12 season on Saturday as they travel to face Newport Gwent Dragons.

The Scotstoun men have made a dream start to new campaign, beating reigning PRO12 champions Leinster in a repeat of last term’s Grand Final and Cardiff Blues in successive weeks.

Conversely, the Dragons enter round three in search of their first win after a sequence of defeats which saw them go down 16-11 at Connacht before being edged out 17-15 by the Ospreys last weekend.

While the Dragons’ lone victory in their last 10 PRO12 outings was at home to Treviso in Round 22 of last season, Glasgow’s only defeat in 12 was their Grand Final heartache at the RDS.

Despite their woeful recent form, Dragons did complete the double over the Warriors last season, although Glasgow’s reverse on Welsh soil was their only defeat at Rodney Parade since 2010.

Scotland internationals Stuart Hogg and Duncan Weir both return for the Warriors, who have made a series of changes following their 33-12 win in Cardiff.

Hogg takes the full-back jersey while try-scorer Sean Lamont is replaced by Canadian winger DTH van der Merwe and Niko Matawalu gets the nod at scrum-half.

In the pack, the lone change sees Tyrone Holmes come in for Chris Fusaro at openside flanker.

Dragons director of rugby Lyn Jones has handed the captaincy to South African lock Rynard Landman for the visit of Glasgow.

Hallam Amos moves from wing to full-back and is joined by Tom Prydie and Aled Brew in the back three, while a new-look midfield combination sees Ben John partner Dorian Jones.

Up front Boris Stankovich, Lloyd Fairbrother, Cory Hill, Lewis Evans and Nic Cudd all get the nod as British and Irish Lion Toby Faletau retains the No 8 jersey.

Scarlets showdown

Saturday’s only other clash pits two of the PRO12’s winless sides against each other, with Scarlets hosting Treviso at Parc y Scarlets.

The excitement brought by Wayne Pivac’s arrival as Scarlets head coach and the renewed hope ahead of the new campaign has been extinguished by draw against Ulster and defeat to Leinster.

Leinster v Scarlets highlights

Scarlets are unbeaten at home since Harlequins’ European victory in January, though, they did let a 32-18 lead slip in the final 17 minutes of their season curtain-raiser as Ulster snatched a share of spoils with a stirring comeback.

The Welshmen did not lose to an Italian opponent last season whilst the only Italian side ever to win at Parc y Scarlets was Treviso two seasons ago.

Benetton Treviso have slipped to five straight defeats since their 45-27 victory over Dragons at Stadio Monigo in April, they at least have not been held try-less in any game since they visited Munster in March.

Liam Williams is fit to take the full-back jersey for Scarlets after pulling out of last week’s clash during the final warm-up, but centre Regan King and captain Ken Owens have both been ruled out.

Former Wales Under 20s prop Rob Evans and Emyr Phillips the only changes to the Scarlets pack, while Michael Tagicakibau returning to partner Harry Robinson on the wings and Gareth Owen joins Scott Williams, captain for the day, in midfield.

Treviso head coach Umberto Casellato has made eight changes in total to the side beaten by Munster last weekend.

Notable changes to the starting line-up see John Maistri replace David Giazzon at hooker while Angelo Esposito, Andrea Pratichetti and Alberto Sgarbi forming a new-look back three.
