Defensive coach Omar Mouneimne is expecting a hostile reception when Edinburgh travel to face Perpignan in round two of the Heineken Cup this weekend.

The Scottish outfit made an ideal start in the competition when they pulled off a morale-boosting 29-23 victory over two-time winners Munster.

That win came as something of a surprise following a poor start to their domestic campaign, but Mouneimne is expecting an even tougher test in the south of France.

With Perpignan having slipped to defeat at Gloucester last weekend, the Frenchmen will be looking for a comprehensive win to get their campaign back on track.

"They (Perpignan) are extremely physical and, at home, are doubly physical because they've lost a game away that they should have won," Mouneimne told Sky Sports.

Partisan crowd

"They're back at home in front of a partisan crowd and I can tell you now they'll come out with absolute fire. It will be a gain-line war beyond belief.

"They crowd are going to want nothing short of blood. We've got to cut the crowd out and execute our game-plan to the letter."

Despite emerging victorious against Munster, Mouneimne feels there is still plenty of room for improvement in Edinburgh's game, especially defensively.

"Defensively there's room for 500% improvement, what we've got to do is lower the error-rate that puts us in a position to defend more than we should," he added.

"We need to neaten our systems and much more accurate in our defensive zone, there's no excuse and is a lot more work to be done."
