Edinburgh centre Nick De Luca's suspension has been reduced from 13 weeks to seven after a successful appeal.

De Luca was banned for a dangerous tip tackle on Tom Grabham during the RaboDirect PRO12 clash with the Ospreys last month.

An independent disciplinary committee "considered the incident to be at the top end level for this type of offence" but that was downgraded to a mid-range offence by the appeals panel.

That reduced the ban to eight weeks, with three weeks taken off in partial mitigation and two more added back on to try and reflect the need for a deterrent for that type of dangerous tackle.

De Luca is now suspended until midnight on 14 April, making him available for the club's away match against Treviso the following Friday at the Stadio Monigo.
