Tom Smith: Has left Edinburgh after three years
Former British and Irish Lions international Tom Smith has left Edinburgh after three years as the club's forwards coach.
Smith, who played for Glasgow Caledonia, Brive and Northampton, joined the Edinburgh backroom staff in 2009.
And Smith went on to play a key role in helping Edinburgh become the first Scottish side to reach the last four of the Heineken Cup.
However Smith, who was capped 61 times by Scotland, is now set for a new challenge away from Murrayfield.
Smith told the club's official site: "This announcement is one of mixed emotions: one of sadness as I leave the club where I took on my first coaching role and one of excitement as I look forward to the next stage in my coaching career, in a country with which I forged a close bond during my playing days.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Edinburgh Rugby and would like to thank the players and staff for their professionalism and support, and the supporters for their commitment and enthusiasm.
"I am excited about the club's prospects for next season, with new signings and the changes that are taking place in Scottish rugby.
"I would like to wish the players, management and staff, every success in the coming season."
