Connacht have confirmed that they have extended Quinn Roux’s loan deal from Leinster until the end of this season.

The South African lock has been instrumental for the western province this season, making 13 appearances and helping maintain their unbeaten home record.

Roux, 24, will become a free agent in the summer and Connacht have hinted that he could remain at the Sportsground beyond the end of this season.

Quinn has impressed everyone since he arrived here - the boys welcomed him, he really enjoys it, and when you tie those factors together, we see the result.

"We are pleased to say we have extended Quinn Roux's deal until the end of the season which is great," said Connacht head coach Pat Lam.

“He has very much impressed us. He has impressed everyone since he arrived here - the boys welcomed him, he really enjoys it, and when you tie those factors together, we see the result."

Meanwhile, Craig Ronaldson is a doubt for Friday’s meeting with Edinburgh in Galway. The fly-half is following return-to-play protocols for the concussion he sustained while scoring a try against Munster on New Year’s Day, with the medical staff monitoring his progress.

Forwards Aly Muldowney and Tom McCartney missed training on Monday with a chest infection and stomach bug respectively, but the pair are expected to be available.

There was more good news for the squad with the return to training of prop Ronan Loughney and veteran second row Michael Swift, while Mick Kearney is recovering well from his ankle rehab and is expected to re-join full training next week.
