Edinburgh winger Tim Visser is raring to go ahead of the 1872 Cup clash with Glasgow Warriors

Free-scoring Tim Visser believes Edinburgh have finally turned the corner after a stuttering start to the season.

While Edinburgh's form has been hit-and-miss, Visser has been as deadly as ever - with the winger already clear at the top of the try-scoring charts. The 25-year-old has finished top in his previous three seasons in the PRO12 - with 10, a record-breaking 14 and then 13 tries - and his tally of 10 this time around means he is closing in on a new milestone. Visser, who moved to capital club from Newcastle in 2009, said: "Being the top scorer wasn't a goal of mine at the start of the season. I'd done it for the past three years so hadn't really thought about it this time around. "I've obviously wanted to keep scoring tries and they do keep on coming so I'm really happy and proud that I'm now top of the try-scoring charts again. "However, what I really want is to become the first player to get to 50. I am only three tries away so I should get there. " As well as his exploits for Edinburgh, Visser has gone on to score four times in five appearances for Scotland after the Dutch-born winger qualified for the side under the IRB residency ruling in the summer. "It has been a massive breakthrough year for me and to be able to replicate my try-scoring form on the international stage has been superb," added Visser. "It has taken the pressure off of me as there was criticism that I wouldn't be able to do it." Don't miss any live and exclusive rugby union coverage this festive season.
