All Blacks veteran signs contract until 2013

The New Zealand Rugby Union have revealed that Brad Thorn has signed a two-year deal with Japan side Fukuoka Sanix Blues. The 36-year-old lock will end his international career after the World Cup as the NZRU only permits players to be selected if they are based in New Zealand. The All Blacks are the favourites to take home the Webb Ellis Trophy in October and coach Graham Henry has said Thorn has been an inspirational part of the team and "the ultimate professional". "The remarkable thing is at 36 years young he is still improving, and knowing Brad, he will continue to improve," he said. "He will go to Japan next year with our very best wishes." Thorn has amassed 50 caps for the All Blacks alongside a successful domestic career in the Australian rugby league, winning titles with the Kangaroos and Brisbane Broncos.
