Sale Sharks have re-signed forward Magnus Lund from French club Biarritz.

The 31-year-old flanker started his career with Sale and made his debut for the club as a teenager back in 2002.

He helped the Sharks win their first Premiership title in 2006, scoring the opening try in the victory over Leicester at Twickenham, while he earned 10 England caps.

Lund, who also helped England Sevens win a silver medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, departed Sale for Biarritz in 2008 and has spent the last six seasons playing in the Top 14.

He has captained Biarritz and was also a member of their team that were runners-up to Toulouse in the 2010 Heineken Cup final.

Sale Sharks director of rugby Steve Diamond told his club’s official website: "I am delighted Magnus has signed. I gave him his debut back in 2002 and have followed his career down the years.

“He is a great signing for us and will fit in perfectly with our plans."
