Sale Sharks: Have appointed Mike Forshaw as defence coach
Sale Sharks have announced that Mike Forshaw has joined the club as defence coach.
The former rugby league player has worked for Connacht and Ireland for the last three years.
Wigan-born Forshaw joined Wigan Rugby League Club in 1987 and had a stint at Wakefield Trinity before a short spell in rugby union with Saracens in 1996.
He moved back to league in 1997, joining Bradford Bulls, and went on to make 157 appearances while also being capped by both Great Britain and England.
After finishing his playing career with Warrington, Forshaw became head of strength and conditioning at the Wolves before linking up with Brian Noble at Wigan in 2006.
He then switched to rugby union, moving to Connacht and was involved as the Irish province made their Heineken Cup debut in 2011.
Sale director of rugby Steve Diamond said: "We are delighted that Mike has agreed to join us and he will be working with Bryan Redpath, Peter Anglesea and myself.
"Mike has plenty of experience both as a player and as a coach. He is a winner and will help improve our defence which has been one of our main problems for the past six years."
