Jacques Burger has agreed an extension to his contract with Saracens.
The Namibia captain has been with the Aviva Premiership club since 2009 and made 48 appearances, but he has suffered a nightmare with injuries this season.
Burger has been battling to overcome a gruesome knee injury that needed surgery considered too risky by a surgeon in the United Kingdom - he was eventually operated on in South Africa.
His right leg had to be re-aligned and the operation involved sawing out a V-shaped wedge of bone from his tibia and he has been in rehabilitation since.
The 29-year-old hopes to make his long-awaited comeback before the end of the season and director of rugby Mark McCall admitted his return would be a massive boost to the squad.
"Jacques personifies the spirit and physicality of our pack, and we can't wait to see him back in action, doing what he does best," McCall said on the club's official website.
