Roy Winters has signed a new two-year contract with Bristol after impressing since his move from Harlequins 18 months ago.

The lock or back row player has appeared in every Guinness Premiership match for the club so far this season.

Winters, who previously played for Bedford, toured with the England Under-21 squad under Clive Woodward and Andy Robinson before earning an England A cap in 1997.

"It is fantastic news that Roy has signed a new two-year contract with us," said head coach Richard Hill.

"He is an incredibly hard-working member of the pack and a great team player who is constantly trying to raise his game.

"This signing shows Bristol's determination to remain a successful and improving Guinness Premiership outfit and Roy will play a significant part in our plans for the future."
