Ward-Smith receives one-week ban

Daniel Ward-Smith will face Worcester Warriors after he was only given a one-week ban.

Dan Ward-Smith will be available for Bristol's next Guinness Premiership outing, after he received only a one-week ban at an RFU disciplinary hearing.

The number eight pleaded guilty to making a dangerous tackle on Northampton's Daniel Browne, and the club had feared that he would consequently miss the January 27 fixture against Worcester Warriors.

However, the disciplinary committee agreed on just a seven-day suspension, meaning Ward-Smith will only miss the European Challenge Cup clash with Narbonne.

Ward-Smith has featured in 14 of Bristol's fixtures this season, including seven appearances in the Premiership.

The 28-year-old will now aim to help Bristol avenge their earlier 24-15 defeat to the Warriors.
