The Sharks have confirmed Patrick Lambie, Pieter-Steph du Toit and Frans Steyn will all miss the Super Rugby play-off quarter-final against the Reds.

Lambie and du Toit will both miss the trip to Brisbane due to injury, while Steyn is ineligible for the knockout stages.

Lambie and du Toit aggravated their ankles in the 34-14 win over the Cheetahs on Saturday so have been omitted from the 24-man squad to face the defending champions.

Steyn misses the play-off games because he signed for the Sharks after the April 1 cut-off - with South Africa centre having returned home from Racing Metro in France.

There is some good news for the Sharks, though, with Steven Sykes and Tendai Mtawarira passed fit after sitting out the game against the Cheetahs.
