The Waikato prop made his debut for the franchise in 2012 against the Blues and has gone on to appear 48 times for them.

The 22-year-old has made a big impact for the Chiefs in the set-piece, while he has proved to be a willing ball carrier in the loose as well.

"I am a Chief by choice," he told the club’s official website.

"There is a great amount of support in all aspects of this environment which is important for me to continue to develop both on and off the field."

Chiefs coach Dave Rennie added: "We are really happy with Tama. He's a powerful man, a destructive tackler with an impressive skillset."
