Joe Tomane has been ruled out of Australia's three-Test series against France after suffering a broken cheekbone.
The Wallabies winger clashed heads with team-mate Ben Alexander during the Brumbies' 16-9 Super Rugby victory over the Sharks on Saturday.
Tomane is likely to be out of action for at least two months but the Brumbies hope the 24-year-old will return in time for the playoffs.
"It's not displaced too badly," said Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham. "At this stage it doesn't need surgery. But we're not 100 per cent (sure)."
The Brumbies sit top of the Australian Conference with five games remaining, and third in the overall standings.
Australia play their first Test against France on June 7 in Brisbane, which is live on Sky Sports.
