Former South Africa boss Jake White has revealed that he has rejected an approach from Ireland to interview for their coaching vacancy.

White, who coached the Springboks to World Cup glory in 2007, insisted he has no desire to succeed Declan Kidney as he is happy in his current role with the ACT Brumbies in Super Rugby.

Reports in Australia had suggested that White and Queensland Reds coach Ewen McKenzie had been interviewed by the Irish Rugby Football Union earlier this week.

But White said: "I'm not available for the Ireland job. I've made it quite clear that I've got a Brumbies contract and I'm here with a job to do. I'm happy here, I'm coaching boys in Australia and I'm enjoying that.

"I'm really not in the market for every coaching job that pops up, I'm focusing on the Brumbies and making them better and in turn making Australian rugby better which is one of my briefs as a Super 15 coach in Australia."

White admitted last month that he would be keen to take on a role with an international team, but not before his contract with the Brumbie expires.

"Yes I want to get back to international rugby, but I'm here for four years and I don't want it to be a distraction every time something comes up," he said.

"It's only fair to the players and I'd hate for it to be a distraction for the team.''
