South African lock arrives on foreign development deal

The Brumbies have signed South African lock Etienne Oosthuizen as their foreign development player on a two-year deal. The 19-year-old will make the switch from the Lions, with the former schoolboy international having made three appearances for them last season. And with Fijian winger Henry Speight eligible for Australia from next season, Oosthuizen will now fill the foreign development spot on the franchise's roster. Oosthuizen said: "As a South African, I realised the chance to move to Australia and join one of the world's best rugby programs was a once in a lifetime opportunity. "I've followed the Brumbies' development this year and they were one of my favourite teams to watch. "I know I can add to their style and look forward to the coaching staff improving my own game at the same time."
