Bath flanker Carl Fearns has been summoned to a meeting with the RFU to discuss his involvement in the incident which saw Gavin Henson being punched in the face.

Henson was signed by The Rec club from London Welsh this summer and he was hit during a row with Fearns in a Bath city centre pub last week.

Bath say the players involved have been fined, but the RFU have issued a statement which revealed Fearns has also been summoned to Twickenham.

It read: "The RFU is aware of the disciplinary action taken by Bath Rugby in relation to the city centre incident involving two of their players last week.

"We have asked one of them, Carl Fearns, a member of the England Saxons EPS in the first half of last season, to attend a meeting with staff at Twickenham concerning his future conduct."

Unacceptable

Bath's statement read: "We can confirm that, after a thorough internal investigation, the players involved in last week's incident in the city centre have been dealt with via the club's disciplinary process."

Nick Blofeld, Bath's chief executive said: "The behaviour of some of the players was totally unacceptable and not what we expect from them.

"The two players involved have taken full responsibility for their actions and they have both received written warnings and fines, and we regard the case as now closed. We want to see the squad focused on pre-season training, the forthcoming 7s and friendlies, and then delivering on the pitch this season."

Club captain Stuart Hooper, on behalf of the players, added: "We would like to apologise as a group. Clearly what happened last week was inappropriate and there is a collective will amongst the players to put that right and not set such a poor example again."
