Leicester director of rugby Richard Cockerill has revealed Manu Tuilagi is unlikely to be fit for England's opening Six Nations match against Wales next month.

Tuilagi has not played since injuring his groin playing for Leicester in October.

Cockerill told Sky Sports News HQ: "Manu hasn't played a huge amount this season so he'll probably be on the field end of January early February. Whether that's enough time to get in games for him to play Wales - it's probably unlikely.

"He'll play 10, 12, 14 games before the end of the season and then it's in to World Cup camp.

"He'll be fresh for the World Cup, if he's picked which I think he will be, and Manu in form - we know what a good player he can be.

"So I've no doubts he'll be ready for the World Cup and I've no doubt he'll ready to play for England and us at the tail-end of the season."
