Test forward Lou Reed has joined Leicester Tigers from Welsh club Cardiff Blues.

The 27-year-old lock moves to Welford Road as cover for the Leicester pack, with Louis Deacon and Geoff Parling currently on the injured list.

Reed, who joined Blues two years ago, has won five international caps for Wales for whom he made his debut in February 2012.

Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill said: "We wanted to bring in some experience to those second row options and Lou was keen to take up this opportunity with us,"

Reed has also played for Rotherham and Scarlets, and moves to Leicester with the club struggling in the Premiership this season – they are ninth out of 12 after five games.
