Tom Croft touches down for Leicester against Harlequins
Leicester flanker Tom Croft earned the plaudits from both coaches following his superb performance in the Tigers' 33-16 Aviva Premiership semi-final victory over Harlequins at Welford Road.
Quins led 9-6 just before half-time but the hosts stormed back with British & Irish Lions squad member Croft, who recently returned to action following a serious neck injury, scoring one of their four tries.
Leicester rugby director Richard Cockerill said: "We know how good Crofty can be.
"We have been very patient with him, and he's been very patient with us. Our loyalty to those guys who get injured is always the same.
"We know how good Crofty can be. We have been very patient with him, and he's been very patient with us. Our loyalty to those guys who get injured is always the same."
"But the commitment from those six Lions today, you wouldn't think they were saving themselves, would you?
"I am delighted with the performance. The try before half-time was crucial for us and I thought across the board the players were outstanding.
"So much work goes into the season across the board, from top to bottom, and to get to a final - which we have got to win - is great for the club."
Quins boss Conor O'Shea said: "Tom Croft is a very special athlete. But it is also the physicality he brings to the game - he is an incredible competitor."
Croft, whose try was a 50-metre solo effort complete with one-handed finish, said: "We have switched off a couple of times against teams in the second half this season but we knew we couldn't switch off the gas today.
"The club is steeped in history in terms of getting to finals. Getting through the semi-final is an achievement but the main goal is picking up silverware at the end of the season."
