Back-row forwards Julian Salvi and Steve Mafi have agreed new contracts with Leicester.

Mafi has emerged as a key member of the Tigers squad after being named Leicester players' player of the year last season and the club have tied him down on a fresh deal.

Australia A cap Salvi, who has eight tries in 41 appearances, has also extended his stay at Welford Road and rugby director Richard Cockerill was glad to secure the duo's services.

"I'm delighted that they have agreed to stay and that they feel this is the best place to play their rugby," Cockerill told the club's website.

"Steve is just 23 years of age, and we believe he will get better and better in this environment playing alongside other top-class players.

"Julian is an important player for us as an out-and-out openside flanker.

"He is just 27, but he's an experienced player and has been in very good form with us."

Mafi and Salvi are the latest players to commit their future to the club as Tom and Ben Youngs and Graham Kitchener have also agreed to stay beyond the end of the current season.
