Wasps boss Dai Young says there will no complacency when they take on Castres at home next week, despite a handsome 32-17 bonus-point Champions Cup victory in France.

A penalty try and scores from Rob Miller, Nathan Hughes and Sailosi Tagicakibau were enough for Wasps to win the battle of Pool Two's bottom sides, with Andy Goode adding 12 points with the boot.

Mathieu Bonello and Remi Lamerat crossed over for the hosts in reply but it was not enough to stop Wasps, who can now target the sides above them – Leinster and Harlequins.

Youngs said: "We knew coming into these two games that we would have to win them to go into the last two games with any realistic possibility of qualifying. Obviously, we have got to back this up next week.

"We have seen today that Castres have some great individuals, so next week's match isn't a foregone conclusion.

"But if we can front up again next week, it gives us a real chance going into the next two rounds."

Despite his caution, Young was thrilled with the way Wasps went about their business in difficult conditions in south-west France.

He said: "It was a good win - and a bonus point win as well. You've got to be really pleased with that. It was nowhere near a perfect performance, especially in the first 15 minutes of the second half, when I thought we became very loose.

"Luckily for us one or two of Castres passes didn't quite stick, and they missed a one or two kicks - which would have put us under a lot more pressure.

"But I thought the defence was really good and the set-piece gave us a platform to control the pitch. With the conditions as they were, it was pretty much all about winning the territorial battle."

Captain James Haskell remains cautious ahead of next week’s return match at home.

"We're very happy," he said. "Castres are a great side. They aren't having a great season, but they're normally up there in the Top 14, so to come here and get a victory is very special.

"This pool is very, very difficult. We've got a long way to go before we worry about qualifying. We've got to play Castres next week at home, which will be a very difficult game.

"We've got Harlequins again, we've got Leinster again - these are all quality sides, so let's just take it one step at a time. Let's take the positives and the learning out of today and look forward.

"If you want to win the European Cup you have to beat everyone. There are no easy games - and that's what we want as a team."
