Wasps have signed Army prop Ricky Reeves on a one-year deal, with the former Bedford Blues man now getting a chance to play in the Aviva Premiership.

Reeves, a Lance Corporal in 33 Engineer Regiment bomb disposal unit, has been playing in the Championship with Bedford Blues and has been granted a one-year sabbatical to play in the Aviva Premiership.

He has played for Cambridge, the Army and Bedford, and also made a number of appearances for Saracens in this season's LV=Cup.

He played for the Army in their recent victory over the Navy at Twickenham and Wasps boss Dai Young believes Reeves has what it takes to thrive in the Premiership.

Young said: "Ricky is an experienced player who has been a key part of Bedford's excellent season this year and is very keen to be given a chance in the Premiership.

"He will be a very useful addition to our squad and we are looking forward to seeing what he can do at the top level."

Reeves' Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Eldon Millar MBE, said: "I am pleased to allow Lance Corporal Reeves this opportunity with Wasps.

"The qualities required of a Premiership Rugby player epitomise those built into a Royal Engineer Bomb Disposal & Search soldier - courage, discipline, respect and commitment. Reeves possesses these traits and hopefully they will develop further to the benefit of both parties."

Meanwhile Samoa international Zak Taulafo has agreed to join Stade Francais from Wasps.

The 30-year-old initially arrived at Adams Park in 2009 on a short-term deal however his form earned him a three-year contract - with Taulafo going on to make 86 appearances in total.
