London Wasps have secured the services of Bedford Blues second row Alex Rae.

Rae's arrival adds some much needed depth at lock with Joe Launchbury away with England for the Six Nations and Tom Palmer ruled out through injury.

The 27-year-old, who has previously played for Northampton Saints and Saracens, could feature in this weekend's Aviva Premiership clash with Harlequins at the Stoop.

London Wasps Director of Rugby Dai Young said: "Alex has joined up with the squad this week and will provide some options in the second row.

"We have never had the biggest squad, and with Tom Palmer out injured and Joe Launchbury away with England, we have moved quickly to bring somebody else in.

"Alex has some good experience and I am sure that he will prove to be a very useful addition."
