New Wasp flies in to London

New Zealand hooker Joe Ward has signed for Wasps on a two-year deal.

Wasps have confirmed the arrival of a new signing to the Causeway Stadium, after Joe Ward signed a two-year deal with the club.

The former New Zealand under-21 captain comes from NPC side North Harbour, and he admits he cannot wait to get going with his new teammates.

"Coming to Wasps is an exciting move for me, I'm looking forward to the new challenge and the new environment," beamed Ward.

"It's great to be here. The Wasps squad are a great bunch, and the set up and facilities here are very impressive.

"I can't wait to play. I want to do as well as I can, work hard to get recognised and gain respect.

"Having a reputation for being a good player in New Zealand is one thing, but coming over here I've now got to build up my reputation and prove myself to a new group of players and coaches, and I'm really looking forward to that."

The hooker will add fine strength in depth to the Wasps forward options, and he arrives with great pedigree having won the world championship at U19 and U21 levels.
